A major police operation in Ranchi’s Lalpur police station area led to the exposure of a sex racket operating from a girls’ hostel. Based on intelligence, the police, under the guidance of City DSP K.V. Raman, raided the Om Girls Hostel. The information, received by SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha, indicated that girls from West Bengal and other regions were being brought to the hostel for immoral purposes. The raid resulted in the rescue of eight women who are suspected to be involved in the sex racket. The police are actively seeking the primary individual behind the operation. City DSP K.V. Raman confirmed the raid was conducted based on intelligence about girls being held at the hostel. The police investigation includes verifying the documentation of the rescued women. This operation is part of a larger pattern of such activities in Ranchi. In August 2024, the police raided Hotel Maurya in the Argora area and arrested seven people, including five women. Previous incidents include a raid in the Lower Bazaar area, resulting in the arrest of ten people, with six women among them. The police have also taken action against sex rackets in hotels located in Chutia police station area.
