A couple has been arrested in Ranchi, Jharkhand, for allegedly stealing jewelry from their neighbor and using it to secure a loan. The police have apprehended Kavita Sharma, an employee of CMPDIL, and her husband, Vikas Bahadur, and recovered approximately 26 lakhs worth of stolen gold and diamond jewelry. The theft took place on May 7th at the residence of Rani Kumari, also a CMPDIL employee, located on Kanke Road. Following the theft, a police investigation was launched after an FIR was filed at the Gonda police station. The investigation revealed that Kavita Sharma, a neighbor, orchestrated the theft. She allegedly sent the stolen jewelry to Hyderabad and then pledged it at Muthoot Finance, obtaining a loan of 5.43 lakhs. Police are investigating the involvement of additional individuals in this case.
