The district administration in Ranchi, Jharkhand, has alerted the public about a fake Facebook profile created in the name of IAS officer Manjunath Bhajantri. The fraudulent profile, complete with the officer’s picture, sent out friend requests to over 2,000 people. The administration issued a press release warning citizens not to accept these requests as they originated from a profile designed for fraudulent activities. An official notification confirmed that the fake profile had no connection to the real IAS officer and was created with malicious intent. The cybercrime unit has started a comprehensive investigation, and an FIR has been lodged. This incident mirrors an earlier instance where a fake profile was created in the name of the Jharkhand DGP, highlighting the growing threat of cybercrime targeting officials.
