Ranchi Crime: Medical Student Betrayed and Sexually Assaulted

A medical student’s pursuit of her dreams in Ranchi was met with a horrific betrayal when a man she trusted allegedly raped her under the false pretense of marriage. The victim, who spent most of her time at a local library for her studies, met the accused, Ainam Khan, there. Khan allegedly manipulated the young woman's emotions and promised to spend his life with her. Based on this promise, he allegedly engaged in a physical relationship with her. However, the relationship took a dark turn when the victim confronted him about marriage, and he flatly refused to fulfill his commitment. Left with no other option, the victim informed her family about the sexual abuse and the deceit. With their support, she lodged a complaint at the Lower Bazar police station. The police responded with urgency, tracking the accused to his home in the Chandil region of Seraikela Kharsawan. The arrest of Ainam Khan marks the first step in a legal battle for justice. The police are currently recording statements and collecting medical evidence to ensure a airtight case against the accused, who is now facing serious charges of rape and criminal breach of trust. This incident is part of a worrying trend of crimes against female students in Ranchi. Just days prior to this report, the city was shocked by an MDS student's assault case where she was fed drugged pizza and cake during a social gathering. That case resulted in the arrest of four individuals, including a friend of the victim.
