On September 12, Narendra filed a complaint at the Sadar police station in Palamu district regarding the theft of the elephant. Lalji, the Sadar police station in-charge, stated that a complaint of an elephant theft, valued at approximately 1 crore rupees, had been received. The police have registered an FIR and have commenced searching for the elephant. The forest department has been provided with the information regarding the tracking chip to assist in the search operation.
