An alarming fire incident in Ghodabanda, East Singhbhum, on Sunday night has led to the destruction of multiple vehicles. The blaze originated outside an Ola service center in the Govindpur police station area, starting with a single car and quickly spreading to others parked nearby.
Residents were forced to evacuate their homes due to the intensity of the fire. Local citizens made initial attempts to control the flames before the arrival of fire tenders and police. Emergency crews worked through the night in a challenging operation to finally contain and extinguish the fire.
Following the incident, local residents expressed strong criticism of the Ola service center management and its owner, Tapas Das. Allegations suggest the illegal use of forest land and roadside space for parking, reportedly with the company’s knowledge. Residents claim repeated complaints to the forest department and administration have gone unaddressed.
Concerns were also raised about a power transformer situated directly opposite the parking area. Residents voiced fears that had the fire spread to the transformer, the consequences could have been devastating, involving a large explosion and potentially numerous casualties.
