Security agencies in Jharkhand are preparing for a large-scale surrender event that will see eighteen Naxalite fighters abandon their firearms and rejoin civilian life. The participants, drawn from diverse command levels—including three zone commanders, three sub-zone commanders, six area commanders and other operatives—will be handed cash rewards ranging from ₹5 lakh to ₹15 lakh depending on their rank. The government’s rehabilitation scheme will also provide employment and social support to facilitate their transition. The authorities anticipate that the surrender will deliver a severe blow to the insurgent network’s operational capability.
