The Chief Minister announced that significant changes are planned for the Ranchi Institute of Neuro-Psychiatry and Allied Sciences (RINPAS), promising to address existing shortcomings. The plans include strengthening both the infrastructure and educational systems at RINPAS. A detailed review will be conducted to identify and rectify any deficiencies. The state government is committed to providing better facilities and advanced, modern treatment for mental health patients at the institute. The announcement was made during the inauguration of the centenary celebrations, marking 100 years of RINPAS. The Chief Minister extended congratulations and best wishes to everyone connected with RINPAS on the milestone of a century of service, dedication, and trust. He underscored the increasing importance of institutions like RINPAS in the current climate, given the rise in mental health issues. Providing effective counseling and treatment is vital, he added. Even though no one wants to require such services, the Chief Minister said, mental health difficulties often necessitate them. He stated that the government would be improving treatment facilities. The Chief Minister emphasized the need to incorporate the latest technologies in the treatment of individuals grappling with mental health challenges. RINPAS will be equipped with the digital medical technologies necessary to effectively manage patients’ mental health concerns. He expressed concern about the instances of patients being abandoned at the institute and the practice of confining mentally ill individuals at home, highlighting the need to ensure that mental health services are readily available. The Chief Minister also discussed the vision of those who established RINPAS in 1925. The institute’s significance today, he stated, reflected the foresight of the founders. The institute has served people for a century. The event featured the release of a postal stamp, a souvenir, and four books. Tele-mental health video conferencing and a digital academy were also launched. Several people were recognized for their contributions to RINPAS. Numerous dignitaries attended the event.
