The cyber cell has arrested a fraudster who cheated a student from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, out of 13 lakh rupees through the Free Fire Max game. The student, who was harassed by the fraudsters’ blackmail, died by suicide. The police have recovered approximately five lakh rupees from several accounts belonging to the scammer and confiscated assets worth three lakh rupees purchased with the stolen money. In addition, the police had apprehended another student associated with the group; however, they released him after questioning and issuing a notice.
The arrest took place in the Raj State Muslim Basti, under the jurisdiction of the Ghatshila police station in the Purvi Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. The accused, Sanat Gorai, is a 12th-grade graduate. Gorai used online gaming to defraud people. A 14-year-old class six student from Dhanuwasand village, who was a victim of his scams, died by suicide on September 15. The investigation confirmed that the student was using the Free Fire Max game on their mobile device.
