The weather forecast for Jharkhand indicates that light to moderate rainfall will continue until July 6th, with heavy downpours possible in certain areas. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’, warning of heavy rainfall in specific parts of Gumla, Simdega, Khunti, and West Singhbhum districts until 8:30 AM on Thursday. A similar alert has been issued for Lohardaga, Latehar, Chatra, Koderma, Hazaribagh, and Ramgarh districts, effective until 8:30 AM on July 4th. Ranchi and the majority of Jharkhand have experienced intermittent rainfall since Wednesday morning. Abhishek Anand, the head of the Ranchi Meteorological Centre, explained that the cyclonic circulation over southern Jharkhand, coupled with the influence of the monsoon, is responsible for the anticipated rainfall pattern. Since the monsoon’s arrival on June 17th, Jharkhand has experienced significantly higher rainfall than usual. Between June 1st and July 2nd, the state received 382.3 mm of rainfall, which is 85% above the normal average of 206.5 mm. Ranchi district recorded the highest increase in rainfall, with 203% above average. Latehar and East Singhbhum also saw substantial increases, with rainfall 182% and 158% higher than normal, respectively.
