Jharkhand is preparing for the Bharat Bandh, with an estimated 250 million workers nationwide participating in the strike. The strike is in protest of the government’s labor and farmer policies, organized by ten central trade unions. The impact will be felt in Jharkhand, with workers from banks, insurance, postal services, and coal mines expected to join the strike. Most labor organizations in the state, excluding some, have confirmed their participation. The strike has garnered support from political parties. Workers from coal mines, banks, government and other sectors are joining the strike. A torchlight procession was held in Ranchi. Key demands include the repeal of labor codes, minimum wage and pension, controlling inflation, stopping privatization, and ensuring workers’ rights and public services, and MSP for farmers. Disruptions are expected in banking, insurance, postal services, coal mines, and state transport. Private companies, hospitals, and schools will likely operate normally.
