Jharkhand is rolling out a pioneering agricultural strategy that involves establishing clusters of 80 to 100 villages, each designated to excel in a particular crop. This innovative approach to Rabi seed distribution aims to foster crop specialization and enhance agricultural productivity across the state. The directive came from the state’s Agriculture Minister during a high-level review of departmental activities. Through the Birsa Krishi Vistar Yojana, farmers will receive seeds at no cost, with a full 100% subsidy. The minister also called for speeding up the implementation of various agricultural schemes and ensuring that the benefits reach farmers without delay. Particular attention is being paid to the Rabi season, with plans to boost awareness and knowledge about cultivating pulses and oilseeds through community meetings. These educational sessions will now be conducted at the panchayat level, making them more accessible to villagers. A significant event on the agricultural calendar is the state-level agricultural trade fair scheduled for November in Ranchi, for which specific officials have been entrusted with organizational responsibilities. Good rainfall this year has raised hopes for a successful harvest. To support this, seeds will be distributed according to district-specific requirements, coordinated with the completion of the current paddy harvest.
