A situation has unfolded involving the alleged assault on the wife and daughter-in-law of Babulal Marandi, who is the Leader of the Opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly and a former Chief Minister. Their driver was seriously injured in the attack, which occurred in Hazaribag at the Amrit Nagar Puja Pandal. The police have taken action by registering a case and beginning an investigation, including reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing those present at the scene.
Preeti Kisku, the daughter-in-law of Marandi, reported that the incident transpired around 7:15 PM while they were traveling from Giridih to Ranchi with her mother-in-law. Her driver suffered serious injuries in the event. It’s been reported that police personnel were present at the location, yet they did not intervene.
The incident stemmed from a traffic jam caused by the immersion procession near the Amrit Nagar Puja Pandal. The family’s vehicle was caught in the procession. The driver requested the crowd to clear the road, which led to a dispute. Subsequently, the driver was allegedly assaulted, and when Preeti intervened, she was subjected to verbal abuse and mistreatment.
Preeti Kisku has requested that the authorities take strict action against the members of the Amrit Nagar Puja Committee. Hazaribag police have initiated an investigation following the complaint. Babulal Marandi served as the first Chief Minister of Jharkhand from November 2000 to March 2003. He was also the founder of the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik), which later merged into the Bharatiya Janata Party. This alleged attack on the former CM’s family brings attention to the law and order situation in the state.
