Babulal Marandi, the chief of the BJP in Jharkhand and the Leader of Opposition, has formally requested Chief Minister Hemant Soren to address serious allegations of illegal stone mining in Sahibganj district. The letter focuses on businessman Satyanath Sah, accused of conducting unauthorized stone extraction in the Borio jurisdiction. Marandi stated that Sah’s mining activities on approximately 20 acres far exceed the permitted lease area of just four acres. Evidence of this illegal operation has reportedly been found following an inquiry ordered by the Sahibganj Deputy Commissioner. The BJP leader estimates that the state exchequer has been deprived of around ₹200 crore due to this alleged illegal mining. Marandi’s appeal includes a call for robust legal action against Sah, the restitution of lost government funds, and immediate measures to halt the ongoing illegal operations. He also seeks assurances for the protection of the informant’s safety and well-being.
