Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has approved three crucial road projects designed to improve the transportation infrastructure in Ranchi and other significant cities across the state. The objective is to create modern and efficient traffic systems. Sunil Kumar, the Principal Secretary of the Road Construction Department, presented detailed plans to the Chief Minister, who then directed that Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) be prepared promptly for speedy implementation. Furthermore, the Chief Minister instructed the creation of traffic enhancement plans for other key urban centers.
The sanctioned projects are:
* **Argora Chowk-Kathal Mor-Chapu Toli Elevated Flyover:** This flyover will extend 1.75 kilometers, featuring a flyover width of 10 meters and a road width beneath of 7 meters. Essential components include drainage, utility ducts, road beautification, comprehensive lighting, and noise barriers. The aim is to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow from Argora to Chapu Toli.
* **Karamtoli-Morabadi-Science City Flyover and Ring Road Four-Lane Road:** The project involves a 2.2-kilometer-long flyover connecting Karamtoli Chowk to Science City, along with a four-lane road extending more than 5 kilometers from Science City to Ring Road. This is intended to alleviate traffic congestion on the capital’s busy routes and expedite travel times.
* **Ranchi Railway Station to Airport Alternative Four-Lane Road:** This comprises a 4.7-kilometer-long road, including an 800-meter elevated section. It will incorporate footpaths, cycle tracks, solar-powered road lighting, a greenfield corridor, gazebos, seating benches, and necessary amenities. This will offer a rapid alternative route to the airport, facilitating easier and quicker access for residents of Hatia, Doranda, Hinoo, and the HEC area to Ranchi Railway Station.
The Chief Minister also considered proposals, such as a flyover from Harmu Mukti Dham to Radisson Blu and a flyover on the Swarnarekha River from Hinoo Bridge to Jagannathpur. He has directed the creation of traffic improvement plans for cities like Jamshedpur, Daltonganj, and others.
* **Jamshedpur-Sakchi City Flyover:** A 2.54 km-long flyover to alleviate traffic jams.
* **Daltonganj-Garhwa Alternative Corridor:** A circular elevated corridor for improved traffic balance.
Improvements at NHAI Transition Points: Focused on safety and junction improvements at places like Ramgarh, Daltonganj, and Barkakana.
These projects are expected to reduce traffic congestion while promoting local employment, investment, and industrial development. The Chief Minister underscored the importance of prompt implementation, with ongoing reviews, highlighting them as critical steps in transforming Jharkhand into a modern, developed state.
