The Jharkhand cabinet has approved the purchase of 1255 four-wheeler and 1697 two-wheeler vehicles to strengthen police patrolling across the state’s police stations. This and other major decisions were made during a recent cabinet meeting. Additionally, the cabinet has scheduled the third monsoon session of the Sixth Assembly, set to run from August 1st to August 7th, comprising five working days. The cabinet gave its approval for this schedule.
The cabinet has sanctioned the purchase of Mahindra Bolero four-wheelers and TVS Apache motorcycles for police operations. The total cost for these vehicles is estimated at ₹146,796,384.90. The cost per Mahindra Bolero will be ₹959,000, and each TVS Apache motorcycle will cost ₹114,563. These vehicles are slated to be purchased over two fiscal years. The purchase decision was made because the existing fleet is in a state of disrepair, with 1079 four-wheelers and 1133 two-wheelers rendered unserviceable.
Besides the vehicle purchase, the cabinet also addressed other crucial matters. This included an increase in dearness allowance for state employees and pensioners. The cabinet also sanctioned modifications to district planning guidelines and approved infrastructure development projects. Personnel matters, including disciplinary actions and appointments, were also addressed. Furthermore, the cabinet addressed the National Pension Scheme, medical reimbursements, and other operational and regulatory matters.
