A political row has erupted in Jharkhand, with the BJP accusing the state government of imposing a ‘Jaziya tax’ on Shiva devotees visiting the Dalma hills during Sawan. The BJP alleges that money is being collected from pilgrims visiting the ancient Shiva temple in Dalma. BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdev criticized the government, claiming the fees are similar to the historical Jaziya tax. The BJP has demanded the immediate reversal of the decision, warning of potential protests. The JMM has countered the allegations, with spokesperson Vinod Kumar Pandey accusing the BJP of attempting to inflame religious sentiments. The JMM stated the government supports the religious practices and is working to improve infrastructure for devotees in the Dalma area. Pandey said the BJP has no real issues and is attempting to mislead the public.
