A violent incident occurred in Ranchi, Jharkhand, late Sunday, where an unidentified assailant entered a home and shot a man, resulting in his death. Another individual who chased the attacker was also shot and injured. The event unfolded in the Jhakhra Tanda area, within the Ratu police station limits.
At Jhakhra Tanda, the attacker fatally shot Ravi Saw with three bullets. Balma, who pursued the assailant, was severely wounded by gunfire. This event has caused widespread concern in the area. Rural SP Praveen Pushkar, DSP, and the Ratu police arrived at the scene following the report. A forensic team was also present to collect evidence.
The initial investigation suggests a possible land dispute as a potential motive. The deceased, a resident of Tundwa, Chatra district, had his body taken by the police for a post-mortem. The injured Balma has been admitted to RIMS hospital for medical treatment. The reasons behind the attack are currently unknown, however, initial investigation is considering a land dispute.
After the shooting, the assailant escaped. SP Praveen Pushkar explained that the attack occurred while Dadu Balma and Ravi Saw were consuming alcohol at Pradeep Munda’s house. An unknown assailant appeared and shot Ravi Saw three times, killing him. Balma, who chased the assailant, was also shot. The authorities are now reviewing the CCTV footage from the location. Additionally, the police are conducting checks at entry and exit points of Ranchi to catch the suspect.
The community is now fearful and apprehensive. This incident follows the daylight murder of Sahil Giddi, also known as Kurkure, near Bhatti Chowk in the Hindpidhi police station area of Ranchi on August 10th. After that incident, local residents protested. They vandalized and set fire to houses of those accused of the crime, including a former councilor.
