In a tragic incident, a raw house belonging to a tribal family in Kolabani village, under the Punnasa Tola area of Laylam Panchayat, in the Bodaam block of the Purvi Singhbhum district, collapsed on Sunday morning due to heavy rainfall. Thankfully, the family members inside the house managed to escape before any serious harm could occur. However, the family has been left homeless and has suffered significant losses.
The incident took place around 9 am on Sunday. The raw, tiled house of Vijay Hansda’s family crumbled suddenly because of the intense rain. Constructed from mud and tiles, the house had become weak from the continuous rain. The family was inside the house when the collapse began, but they escaped just in time. Within moments, the walls and roof had completely fallen.
Vijay Hansda, whose family was affected, explained that their bullocks were trapped under the debris. Upon hearing the news, villagers swiftly arrived and, after a strenuous effort, rescued the animals. Unfortunately, essential items like food, clothing, and kitchenware were buried beneath the rubble.
Vijay Hansda emphasized that the house was their only asset, and its destruction has left the family devastated. They are now without shelter and are forced to live under the open sky.
The affected family is appealing to the authorities for immediate relief and compensation. The local villagers have also urged the district administration to provide support and help the family with resettlement so they can begin to rebuild their lives.
