A government employee at the Koderma Subdivisional Office has passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack while on duty. The deceased, Mahesh Kumar, 45, was a resident of Koderma and originally hailed from Hazaribagh. The incident occurred on Thursday night around 8 PM. Fellow employees discovered Mahesh was absent as they were finishing their work. He was responsible for the final locking of the office premises. During the search for him, his mobile phone was found ringing in an office room. Believing he had stepped out for a pressing matter, a colleague named Golu Sinha secured the main entrance and returned the phone to Mahesh’s wife. When Mahesh did not return home after a considerable time, his wife and son went to the Subdivisional Magistrate’s residence. The guard provided a spare key, and accompanied by Mahesh’s wife, they searched the office. Mahesh was found in an unresponsive state within the SDO’s chamber and was promptly taken to Sadar Hospital, where he was medically confirmed deceased. Subdivisional Magistrate Ria Singh arrived at the hospital to offer comfort to the family. CCTV footage analyzed Friday morning confirmed Mahesh entering the SDO’s chamber at approximately 7 PM and remaining inside. Deputy Commissioner Rituraj also made his way to Sadar Hospital to convey his condolences. Mahesh Kumar had been employed at the Subdivisional Office since 2021 and lived in Koderma with his wife and two children.
