Govindpur village in the Jari block of the Chainpur sub-division is facing significant challenges due to a three-month-long electricity outage, leading to considerable discontent among the residents. Villagers reported that the cause of the power failure was a transformer damaged by lightning. The village has been experiencing a complete blackout since the incident.
The villagers have repeatedly contacted the electricity department to report the situation, however, there has been no response to their requests, with neither a new transformer installed nor the old one repaired. The lack of action has resulted in growing anger among the residents. The absence of electricity has meant that homes are in darkness every evening, disrupting the children’s education. Children are now compelled to study using candlelight or lamps at night.
Moreover, the villagers are increasingly concerned about the heightened risk of encountering snakes and scorpions during the rainy season. They view the department’s lack of action as an indication of the district administration’s disinterest. They are demanding the swift installation of a new transformer or the repair of the damaged one to reinstate power to the village. The villagers are urging the department to take urgent measures to resolve this issue.
