An atmosphere of fear has descended upon the region near the Bundu-Namkum border, close to Ranchi, following reports of a tiger or leopard in the Heso forest of the Lali Panchayat. The incident occurred when three cattle were attacked and killed by a wild animal, as reported by villagers on Monday. Local officials, including Aarti Kujur, and the forest department were quick to arrive at the scene to assess the situation.
Initial observations point towards an attack by a predator such as a tiger or leopard. Evidence, including claw marks and footprints, was found at the site. The attacks on the cattle have created widespread fear among the villagers. Aarti Kujur mentioned that villagers heard animal roars overnight, which might be connected to the attacks. She advised residents to stay vigilant, and the forest department has increased its patrols. Villagers have been told to avoid the forest after dusk and to keep their livestock in groups while grazing.
