A disciplinary incident at the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Bangurda, near Jamshedpur, resulted in four students losing consciousness. The students were given a punishment of 200 sit-ups by a teacher for arriving five minutes late from a visit to a Shiv temple on Shravan Somwari. The affected students, including Priyanka Mahato, Ashtami Mahato, Dayavati Pramanik, and Purnima Mahato, experienced health complications due to the punishment. They were initially treated at Macha CHC and later transferred to MGM Hospital in Dimna. The incident drew attention from local officials and community leaders, including MLA Mangal Kalindi and former BJP leader Vimal Baitha. Baitha criticized the school’s actions, citing the students’ low oxygen levels, which, he said, were a result of the punishment after they had eaten breakfast. He demanded that appropriate measures be taken against the school for its actions.
