The city of Jhumri Tilaiya is witnessing a substantial enhancement in its waste management system, significantly influenced by the leadership of SDO Riya Singh. The Municipal Council has injected new energy into its door-to-door waste collection program, extending its reach and effectiveness across the town’s 28 wards. Under SDO Singh’s directive, the collection of refuse directly from homes has begun in Chitragupta Nagar, with a clear objective to cover 27,000 households by the end of the year.
This proactive approach has been met with positive reception and a heightened awareness of sanitation issues among residents. Municipal Administrator Ankit Gupta detailed the comprehensive awareness campaigns orchestrated by SDO Riya Singh in key urban areas, including Water Tank Road, Block Road, and Chitragupta Nagar. To improve accessibility and citizen response, all garbage collection vehicles are now equipped with a distinctive ‘Kachra Nikaliye’ sound alert that signals their presence in neighborhoods. Gupta also emphasized the implementation of GPS tracking for all waste vehicles, allowing for continuous monitoring of their operations and routes on dedicated screens at the Municipal Council.
With the Municipal Council collecting an estimated 28 to 32 tons of garbage daily, this drive is a critical step towards establishing a ‘Green Tilaiya, Clean Tilaiya’. City Manager Lemanshu Kumar, Randhir Verma, Sanitation Inspector Raju Ram, and other municipal staff attended the event, stressing the importance of collective responsibility in achieving environmental cleanliness and requesting active citizen participation.
