A new compensation structure is set to benefit landowners in the Chitra colliery area. This program offers a transparent and advantageous annuity scheme for landholders, especially those affected by land acquisition in Jharkhand and West Bengal. The government has introduced a two-pronged approach: a lump-sum compensation option combined with a modified annuity scheme. These measures are expected to directly assist numerous families. Colliery agent Umesh Prasad Choudhary confirmed the importance of this initiative for those whose land is part of land development projects. The plan ensures transparency, equity, and sustained benefits. Detailed documentation will be released shortly, with compensation reaching up to ₹20 lakh per acre in Jharkhand.
