Simdega’s commitment to educational reform was showcased at the ‘Mukhiya Sammelan 2025’, a grand event held at the Kelaghadh Dam, under the aegis of the Jharkhand Education Project’s Samagra Shiksha. The conference was designed to foster a deeper understanding among panchayat heads regarding school governance, the elevation of learning standards, increasing student intake, mitigating dropouts, bolstering educational infrastructure, and promoting community partnerships. Deputy Commissioner Kanchana Singh inaugurated the summit, positioning Mukhiyas as central figures in the ‘Educational Ecosystem’. She underscored the direct correlation between Mukhiya leadership and school success, recommending diligent monitoring of attendance and facilities. Insights were shared on nurturing the emotional well-being of children in residential settings, encouraging Mukhiyas to engage with them through activities and guidance. The setting at Kelaghadh Dam also facilitated discussions on local tourism promotion and environmental preservation, including calls for organized tourism management and a crackdown on plastic waste. Superintendent of Police M. Arshi stressed the indispensable role of Mukhiyas in driving educational awareness at the village level. Representatives brought forth significant challenges related to certificate issuance for marginalized children, affecting their access to educational benefits. The Deputy Commissioner assured a focused approach to resolve these administrative hurdles. The event also noted positive developments in educational metrics as per NITI Aayog guidelines.
