The residents of Govindpur village, located in the Jari block of the Chainpur subdivision, are facing a prolonged power outage that has lasted for three months, leading to significant public anger. The villagers report that their transformer was struck by lightning three months ago, which resulted in a complete loss of electricity. Since then, the village has remained in darkness. Residents are expressing frustration over the electricity department’s failure to replace or repair the damaged transformer, despite numerous complaints.
The lack of electricity has caused major disruptions, especially in the evenings, when homes are plunged into darkness, hindering children’s ability to study. Students are now compelled to use candles or lamps for their studies at night. Moreover, the villagers are increasingly concerned about the rise in snake and scorpion activity during the rainy season. The villagers believe that the inaction of the department highlights the district administration’s lack of concern and are urging the immediate installation of a new transformer or repair of the existing one to restore power as quickly as possible. Akbar Khan, Mobarak Ansari, Zahid Ansari, Pratap Minj, Laxman Malar, Manuwar Khan, and Belal Ansari were among the residents who attended to convey their concerns and demand urgent action.
