Samrat Chaudhary, the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, remarked on Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Patna, suggesting it was more of a ‘political picnic’ than a sincere effort to address the state’s challenges. Chaudhary was in Ranchi for the 27th Eastern Zonal Council meeting, which will be presided over by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The meeting is crucial for resolving regional development issues and state-level disputes between Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal. Chaudhary criticized the opposition’s call for a Bihar bandh, terming it as misleading and against the public interest, especially concerning the Election Commission’s voter list revision. He highlighted the support of over four crore voters for the verification program. Regarding Jharkhand, Chaudhary stated that its leaders should resign if they haven’t met the public’s expectations, thereby emphasizing accountability. The Eastern Zonal Council meeting will prioritize resolving the long-standing property disputes between Bihar and Jharkhand. The meeting will also cover regional cooperation, administrative reforms, infrastructure growth, and security concerns.
