Ranchi police have received a significant breakthrough with the surrender of a key figure in a drug trafficking ring, known as ‘Bhabhi Ji.’ Ruby Devi, the woman behind the moniker and a resident of Sasaram, Bihar, is alleged to be the linchpin of a network that extended its operations from Bihar to Jharkhand. Many drug peddlers, recently apprehended by the authorities, have implicated ‘Bhabhi Ji’ as their primary source of brown sugar. DSP Prakash Soe reported that the remand proceedings have unveiled the intricate connections within the drug network between Ranchi and Sasaram. The arrested drug traffickers confirmed they sourced their drugs from Ruby Devi in Sasaram before distributing them within Ranchi. Ruby Devi’s court surrender led to an immediate police remand, during which she revealed the names of other individuals involved in the drug trade. The police are now thoroughly investigating the entire drug peddling operation. The probe has revealed that her family was also involved in the illegal activities. Her brother Pintu Sahay was arrested in Sasaram and her other brother Prince is actively involved. Six cases have been filed against ‘Bhabhi Ji’ at the Sukhdev Nagar police station, and information on her criminal background is being collected from other police stations. She was known to provide drugs quickly upon demand. The police investigation also discovered that people from Ranchi frequently traveled to Sasaram to acquire drugs for sale in the city. DSP Prakash Soe emphasized that this network not only facilitated the drug trade but also harmed the youth. The police have committed to taking stringent measures to eradicate the racket. The proactive approach of the police is expected to deliver substantial results in the fight against drugs in Ranchi.
