A 21-year-old man, Krishna Rana, from Giridih district, died by drowning in Dimna Lake on Wednesday afternoon. He was part of a group of ten friends who were visiting the lake. While swimming with his friends, he sank and could not be rescued due to a delay in receiving help. As reported, approximately nine young carpenters went to Dimna Lake that day. Six of them went into the water to swim. Krishna Rana, who entered last, suddenly began to drown in the deep water. His friends tried to save him but were unsuccessful and came out. Those present immediately informed the police, but the police did not arrive on time. Instead of rescue operations, the authorities conducted investigations. Fishermen arrived much later and retrieved the young man’s body from the water. Local people stated that drowning incidents are not new in Dimna Lake. There have been several incidents previously, but there are no lifeguards or warning signs in the lake area. After every accident, only basic procedures are followed, whereas many lives could be saved with proper arrangements.
