In a heartbreaking incident, 21-year-old Krishna Rana, a resident of Giridih district, lost his life at Dimna Lake on Wednesday afternoon. He was part of a group of ten, including his nine friends, who were visiting the lake. The tragedy unfolded when Rana drowned while swimming, and timely assistance was not available.
The group, composed of nine young men employed as carpenters, had gone to Dimna Lake. Six of them went into the water. Krishna Rana, who was last to enter, suddenly began to struggle in the deep water. Despite their best efforts, his friends were unable to rescue him and had to exit the water.
The police were informed promptly, but their arrival was delayed, with initial actions involving questioning rather than immediate rescue efforts. The body was later recovered from the lake by local fishermen.
Local residents have expressed concern and noted that drowning incidents are not uncommon at Dimna Lake. Despite past tragedies, no lifeguards or safety warnings are present at the site. They believe that implementing better safety measures could prevent future loss of life.
