Police in Dhanbad district have successfully disrupted an illegal alcohol operation, seizing a significant quantity of liquor in the Chirakunda and Kalubathan areas. The joint operation, conducted late Wednesday, targeted the illicit liquor trade in the region. Police recovered both locally made and foreign-branded alcohol during the raids. Two individuals were taken into custody, while the search continues for other suspects involved in the illegal activities. Nirsa SDPO Rajat Manik Bakhla provided information about the raids during a press briefing held on Thursday at the Maithon office. The SDPO stated that the actions were carried out under the supervision of senior police officers and were intended to curb the unlawful production and sale of alcohol. The police raided the house of Raghunath Tudu in Kaithardih village, Kalubathan, and seized a substantial amount of alcohol. A liquor vendor, Mangal Tudu, was arrested at the scene and provided information about other individuals connected to the illegal trade. The police are actively searching for these suspects. In a separate action, a hotel near the Junkundar phatak vegetable market in the Chirakunda police station area was also raided, leading to the seizure of foreign and local liquor. The hotel operator tried to escape but was apprehended by the police. Both of the arrested individuals have been formally charged and placed in judicial custody. The SDPO confirmed that the police will maintain their efforts and will not hesitate to take strict action against anyone involved in the illegal alcohol business.
