An alarming situation has emerged in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, where a government hospital’s alleged misdiagnosis led to a pregnant woman being denied admission, only to deliver a healthy baby at a private facility. This incident has raised serious questions about the quality of care at the government hospital.
Vinod Saw shared that he brought his wife, Manisha Devi, to the Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital, following a journey of approximately 120 kilometers. The medical staff reportedly refused to admit her, claiming low hemoglobin levels and that the fetus had died. However, at a private hospital, Manisha delivered a healthy baby. Vinod Saw expressed his appreciation to the doctors at the private hospital for their successful efforts.
The Deputy Commissioner of Hazaribagh, Shashi Prakash Singh, has ordered an investigation into the matter. He has instructed the Superintendent of Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital to create a committee to investigate the incident, emphasizing the government’s responsibility to provide quality and affordable medical care. Dr. Praveen Kumar, the private hospital owner, reported that after Manisha’s admission, essential tests were conducted, and the results were positive. Both the mother and the newborn are reported to be in good health.
