Political tensions in Jharkhand have escalated as Amba Prasad, a prominent Congress leader and former MLA, has publicly claimed that she is facing threats from a BJP MP from Andhra Pradesh. The alleged threats are related to her opposition to a mining company operating in her constituency, Barkagaon.
Prasad revealed at a press conference that she had received calls from the BJP MP’s brother, who threatened to end her political career. She also accused the company, which is operating in Barkagaon, of illegal mining. Prasad criticized the local administration, claiming they are siding with the company and are not taking action against the alleged illegal activities.
She stated that she fears for her life, alluding to the death of Surya Hansda in Godda. Prasad further revealed that 400 police personnel were sent to her house and her driver’s private guard was arrested on the company’s instructions. She also noted that the Enforcement Directorate recently attached approximately 3 crore rupees of illegal property belonging to her brother, Ankit Raj.
