A BSF jawan, Rahul Manjhi, died by suicide within the confines of the Murhu police station in Khunti district, Jharkhand, leading to a swift police response and investigation. The jawan was in custody following an accusation of harassment. The incident prompted a visit from SP Manish Toppo, DSP Varun Rajak, and other senior officials who initiated a high-level inquiry. Ramdev Yadav, the station officer of the Murhu police station, has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation. The deceased jawan, Rahul Manjhi, was stationed in Siliguri and was on leave when the incident occurred; he had not returned to his post. Reports indicate he was detained by villagers in the Meral area after a young woman alleged harassment. The police were informed, took him into custody, and subsequently locked him up. It’s alleged that the jawan ended his life by hanging himself with an electrical wire attached to a ventilator in the police station bathroom.
