A man in Gumla, Jharkhand, has been arrested following a brutal attack that resulted in the death of one woman and injuries to three other villagers. Baliram Khadia is accused of entering a home in Kamaltoli village under the guise of requesting water. He then attacked Reena Devi with a ‘tangi’, resulting in her death. Khadia then went on to attack two other women and a child. As the villagers tried to catch him, he jumped into a well. The police subsequently rescued him and took him into custody. An investigation is ongoing, considering the suspect’s mental state and the possible influence of local beliefs.
