A controversial social media post referencing Prophet Muhammad, created by Ramkinker Pandey, triggered outrage within the Muslim community in the Bermo area of Bokaro district on Saturday. Protests erupted as community members gathered and called for immediate action from the authorities. Recognizing the potential for unrest, Bermo police swiftly intervened, taking Ramkinker Pandey in for questioning before the situation could escalate. The police confirmed that the disputed post is under investigation, with strong consequences for any wrongdoing. During the demonstration, protestors surrounded the police station and chanted provocative slogans, including ‘Sar Tan Se Juda,’ in front of the administration. The protestors emphasized that any actions that disrespect religious sentiments would not be tolerated. Both the police and the administration urged the public to remain calm. Local community leaders and intellectuals also appealed to all groups to exercise restraint. The Bokaro SP addressed the ‘Sar Tan Se Juda’ slogans, stating that the entire matter is being addressed with appropriate action. They further added that such actions, occurring despite the police responding to the community’s demands, reflect a disturbing mindset. Subsequently, an FIR was filed, and six people have been arrested. This action is intended to send a clear message to those who believe they can act without consequences and attempt to disrupt societal harmony, which will not be permitted.
