In Barmer, Rajasthan, on September 21st, a heartbreaking incident occurred. At around 10 AM, cries of distress were heard from a house in Undu village, within the Shiv police station’s jurisdiction. When people arrived, they found the lifeless body of a young man. His girlfriend was seen beside him, overcome with grief and clinging to his body, expressing her sorrow and disbelief at his death. The scene was emotionally charged for all witnesses.
The deceased was identified as 22-year-old Shaukat Khan. His girlfriend, aged 19, was distraught. His brother, Jumma Khan, also arrived at the scene, devastated by the loss. The police were immediately informed. They took control of Shaukat’s body and arranged for a post-mortem examination.
An investigation was initiated. The girlfriend stated she was in the kitchen when she went to call Shaukat, only to find the door locked. Looking through the window, she witnessed Shaukat hanging. She contacted Shaukat’s brother to tell him what happened, and she said she did not understand why he would take his own life.
Shaukat’s girlfriend is from Jharkhand. Jumma Khan shared that he and Shaukat were in the furniture business. Shaukat had brought his girlfriend to live with them some time ago, and she had remained with them ever since. Everything appeared normal, and Shaukat would typically share his concerns with him. Jumma Khan received the news of his brother’s death from his girlfriend.
Local residents mentioned that the girlfriend’s family had visited around ten days prior to take her home. However, she chose to remain with Shaukat and refused to leave with them. The family then departed. SI Jalaram of Shiv police station mentioned that Shaukat Khan, from Sangad Ola village, lived with his girlfriend and his older brother, Jumma Khan, in a rented house in Undu village.
