During a discussion in the Rajya Sabha concerning China and the Operation Sindoor debate, Union External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar strongly criticized the Opposition. He used the phrase “China Gurus” to refer to certain members, particularly targeting Jairam Ramesh, and questioned their knowledge of China. Jaishankar implied that their understanding of China was based on the Olympics. He emphasized that the government is aware of and addressing the close ties between Pakistan and China, but he challenged the Opposition’s claim that these ties are a recent development, indicating they were unaware of historical events.
During the debate, Jaishankar shared information about communications with the US during Operation Sindoor. He stated that US Vice President Vance had warned the Prime Minister about a possible Pakistani attack. India responded by taking actions that disabled Pakistani air defense systems. Jaishankar further mentioned that no world leaders requested India to stop its operations. He also clarified that there were no trade implications and that there were no direct phone calls between the Indian Prime Minister and President Trump.
