Security concerns have reached a critical point in Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Jail following the circulation of a video showing an inmate, described as an ISIS terrorist and rapist, using a mobile phone and watching television. The viral footage has fueled a public outcry, with many decrying the ‘five-star comfort’ seemingly available to inmates, questioning the effectiveness of jail security.
The individual in question is alleged to be Zuhab Hameed Shakeel Manna, currently detained for his alleged role in financing ISIS. The visual evidence of him possessing and using a smartphone has raised alarm bells regarding contraband access and lax oversight within the correctional facility.
In light of the incident, Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara has confirmed that the state government is taking stringent measures. Officials implicated in allowing such violations have been suspended, and further disciplinary actions are being pursued. The Minister has ordered an immediate and thorough investigation into the breach, emphasizing that such lapses in security will not be tolerated. A swift and comprehensive report has been requested to address these critical issues.
