For the 2025 Navratri festival, the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is introducing a special Falahari meal service for passengers observing fasts on trains. The goal is to provide a more convenient travel experience for those following dietary restrictions during the festival.
The Falahari menu will include a range of Satvik-compliant foods, such as jeera aloo, aloo tikki, sabudana khichdi, sabudana vada, malai barfi, lassi, dry-roasted fox nuts, fasting vegetables, roasted peanuts, and plain curd. Passengers can easily order these meals through the IRCTC e-catering website or mobile app and choose to pay online or upon delivery. The meals will be delivered directly to passenger berths at select stations, priced between 100 and 200 per meal.
In a separate development, the Railway Board has instructed all zonal railways to provide 1-liter Rail Neer bottles on all Vande Bharat trains, replacing the previous 500ml bottles to improve passenger convenience. This change is now in effect across all Vande Bharat routes, including the newly launched Bhopal-Rani Kamalapati to Hazrat Nizamuddin route via Gwalior and the new Khajuraho Vande Bharat service.
