Internet providers suspended in Howrah amid protests over feedback on Prophet

HOWRAH: Internet providers have been suspended in West Bengal’s Howrah district on Friday night amid violent protests over controversial feedback in opposition to Prophet Mohammad by two suspended BJP spokespersons.

The web will stay suspended until 6 am on Monday, stated an order issued by the Home and Hill Affairs Department. Voice calls and SMS providers will stay energetic, it added.

Internet providers have been suspended to forestall the unfold of any hearsay for illegal actions, the order stated.

The resolution was taken after a request was obtained from the extra director common and Inspector General of Police (Law and order), within the view of the latest occasions in some areas, it stated.
