Statistics reveal a concerning increase in the number of Indian citizens who have died in Canada. Over 1,000 Indian nationals have died in the country in the last five years. While most of these deaths were attributed to natural causes, such as old age or illness, others resulted from accidents, violence, suicide, and murder. The Ministry of External Affairs facilitated the return of 757 sets of remains and ashes from Canada to India during the same period. The Indian government has established procedures to assist Indian citizens in distress, including those who have died abroad, coordinating efforts through Indian embassies and the central government to manage situations related to death, repatriation of remains, and related matters.
