In a move to enhance the Indian Army’s technological capabilities, Gen Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of Army Staff, inaugurated ‘Agnishodh’ – the Indian Army Research Cell (IARC) at IIT Madras. The primary objective is to equip military personnel with expertise in emerging fields such as additive manufacturing, cybersecurity, quantum computing, wireless communication, and unmanned systems. The initiative aligns with the broader goal of achieving self-reliance in defense technology. The collaboration will include the IIT Madras Research Park, AMTDC, and the Pravartak Technologies Foundation. During the event, Gen Dwivedi discussed ‘Operation Sindoor,’ describing it as a strategic operation focused on combating terrorism. He emphasized the crucial role of indigenous technology and precision military actions in reinforcing India’s security. He also praised the faculty of IIT Madras. Dwivedi described ‘Operation Sindoor’ as a chess game, involving strategic moves, and taking risks. The events of April 22nd triggered swift action, including key meetings. The Prime Minister was briefed on April 29th, and the operation united the nation, indicating strong public support.
