The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a monsoon alert, warning of heavy rainfall across various regions of India from June 22 to 27. The IMD predicts extremely torrential downpours in Gujarat, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathawada during this period. Northeast India is also expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next week. The southwest monsoon is advancing rapidly, with its arrival anticipated in the remaining areas of the North Arabian Sea, parts of Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh within the next two days. Favorable conditions also exist for further advancement into Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi. Delhi is likely to receive rainfall starting from June 22, potentially the earliest monsoon arrival since 2013. Continuous rain in regions like Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha may result in significant traffic disruptions and waterlogging.
