In preparation for Independence Day, the country is experiencing heightened security, with Delhi at the forefront. The capital has implemented increased patrolling, checkpoints, and advanced surveillance. The security plan includes the Delhi Police, paramilitary forces, NSG, SPG, Military Intelligence, and other agencies, with over 20,000 security personnel involved. Advanced AI systems, such as facial recognition, anti-intrusion cameras, people count cameras, ANPR, and abandoned object detection, have been integrated. The ANPR system will scrutinize number plates to identify suspicious vehicles, while facial recognition technology will cross-reference against a database of 300,000 suspects. The abandoned object detection system will immediately alert the control room to any unattended items near the Red Fort. Anti-intrusion cameras will secure the fort’s walls and alert authorities to any potential breaches. Anti-drone systems are operational, with snipers stationed on rooftops, and over 800 CCTV cameras are monitoring key areas. Two special control rooms will manage the real-time feeds from 426 cameras. The Red Fort has been under strict access control for 20 days, with routine anti-sabotage checks. Parking facilities will have under-vehicle scanning. Entry for commercial vehicles into Delhi has been prohibited since August 14, and traffic diversions are in effect. Cyber patrolling targeted social media accounts displaying weapons, resulting in multiple arrests and the recovery of firearms. Similar measures are being implemented in other cities, including Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal. Security has been increased in Bandipora, Mumbai, and Agartala as well.
