Weather disruptions are on the horizon for many Indian states as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts widespread rain and thunderstorms leading up to and beyond Diwali. The forecast, valid until October 18, indicates heavy rainfall is likely for Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are a significant concern for these southern states, as well as for parts of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. The IMD’s bulletin on October 14 confirmed these predictions, noting that the monsoon is also withdrawing from eastern and central regions. Residents in affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions amidst these weather changes.
