Indian Air Force Chief Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh announced that five Pakistani fighter jets and an additional large aircraft were taken down during Operation Sindoor. Speaking at the HAL Management Auditorium, Air Chief Marshal Singh described the attack on the Shahbaz Jacobabad Airfield, a strategic location. An F-16 hangar was struck, causing extensive damage and potentially impacting the aircraft housed within. The Air Chief Marshal stated that the jets were taken down using the S-400 air defense systems. He confirmed the downing of at least five fighters and one large aircraft, possibly an ELINT or AEW&C aircraft, intercepted at a range of about 300 kilometers. The operation also targeted two command and control centers, at least six radars, and several hangars. Singh also addressed the hurdles in providing verifiable evidence of the devastation inflicted upon terrorist organizations. He referred to the challenges faced in explaining the successes of the Balakot airstrikes, which were hampered by a lack of definitive visual proof. He highlighted that Operation Sindoor provided visual documentation to the public. Singh concluded by explaining that Operation Sindoor’s primary goal was to deter terrorists, and once that objective was met, India sought to end the hostilities.
