Hunt for Amritpal: Internet companies to renew in Punjab aside from some districts

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab authorities on Tuesday prolonged the suspension of cell web and SMS companies in Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Moga, Sangrur and Amritsar’s Ajnala sub-division and some areas in Mohali until Thursday midday.

The curbs might be lifted from the remainder of the state from Tuesday midday, the division of residence affairs and justice stated in an order.

The curbs on cell web and SMS companies had been imposed by the Punjab authorities on Saturday because the state’s police drive launched a significant crackdown towards radical preacher Amritpal Singh and members of his outfit ‘Waris Punjab De’.

It clarified that cell web companies in all of the remaining areas of the state ought to begin functioning usually from 12 midday on March 21.
