Human trafficking gang busted in Punjab’s Patiala; two infants rescued

CHANDIGARH: A human trafficking gang has been busted in Patiala. It has come to gentle that infants have been purchased for a pittance of Rs 50,000 from poverty-stricken households and offered to childless {couples} for round Rs 5 lakhs. In some instances, the infants have been stolen.

This has come to gentle after Punjab police busted a gang of seven, together with two girls and middlemen, who have been allegedly concerned in human trafficking. The arrest was attainable following a tip-off.

Senior Superintendent of Police of Patiala Varun Sharma mentioned that these arrested have been Baljinder Singh, Amandeep Kaur, Bhupinder Kaur, Lalit Kumar, Sajita, Harpreet Singh, and Sukhwinder Singh. 

Sajita hails from Bihar. She had offered her youngster to this gang.  

Sadar Samana police have registered a case beneath Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 370 (5) (trafficking of minors), 120 (B) (legal conspiracy), and Section 81 of The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.

The gang members reportedly confessed to having offered round seven infants prior to now few months. They had transformed a Toyota Innova car into an ambulance in order that the
police and authorities didn’t have any suspicion about their actions once they transported the infants. The car has additionally been recovered.

It could also be recalled that in August 2020, police had arrested a five-member gang, together with a police constable, and rescued a two-day-old boy they lifted from a hospital in Sangrur.
